– Overvoltage
– Undervoltage
– Voltage/current imbalance
– Frequency change
• Installation, power supply and motor failures
• Slow temperature rise:
– Insufficient cooling
– Ambient temperature
High – High altitude operation
– Liquid temperature
High – Viscosity of the pumped liquid is too high
– Frequent startup
– Load inertia is too large
• Rapid temperature rise:
– Locked rotor

It must then automatically disconnect the circuit from the power source. A fuse is a simple device that performs both of these functions. Usually a fuse is assembled with a safety switch that can shut down the circuit.
