Scope Of Application

This button type thermal protector is designed for all kinds of motors below 1.5 horsepower, power tools, motors, transformers, ballasts, battery packs, glue machines, solenoids, coils, electric heating appliances, etc. It can be used as a self-resetting thermal circuit breaker (2B type), motor thermal protector (3C type) and ballast thermal protector.

Design Principle

KW5T series button snap-type thermal protector is a small bimetallic thermostat. It uses the principle of instantaneous beating of the strip bimetal under the action of temperature. Through the action of the mechanism, the contact quickly moves to achieve disconnection. Or the purpose of connecting the circuit.

The structure design is simple, consisting of strip-shaped high-sensitivity bimetal elements, elastic sheets, contacts, brass washers, cover plates, etc. The elastic sheet welded silver contact is placed on the bottom shell, and the bimetallic sheet and the brass washer are placed on it. When the bimetallic sheet is in the temperature range, the movable contact and the static contact on the cover are closed, and the circuit is conducted. When the electrical appliance heats up for some reason and the temperature rises to the rated operating temperature of the product, the bimetallic element is heated to produce internal stress and act quickly. The pressure deforms the elastic sheet and causes the contact to disconnect, cut off the power supply, and the electrical appliance stops working. To overheat protection. When the temperature of the protected electrical appliance drops to the product's rated reset temperature value, the bimetal element returns to its original state. The moving and static contacts are closed, and the electrical appliance resumes operation.

The protection function of the product can be divided into two types: normally open type and normally closed type, that is, when the temperature reaches the design value, the circuit is turned on and the circuit is turned off.

Due to the use of a metal shell, the protector has stronger mechanical strength and can be covered with an insulating sheath to insulate the metal parts of the motor. Since the trip time of cutting off the power supply depends on the working temperature of the protector, the temperature class should be selected correctly, and the model that matches the motor can be selected by referring to the performance curve.
